THE STORY:
Intertwined was written in my living room with my two friends Kim Parent and Ken Harrell. As I mentioned in the STORY BEHIND THIS RECORD, God sent me on a quest through some older songs I had written to start my journey on this CD, but there were a few holes in the story that I needed to write fresh as well. This is one of those.
The morning before Ken and Kim showed up at my house to write, I had been doing some bible study and the passage I was studying was John 15: 4-5
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
I started praying and as I was thinking about vines and how they can wrap around branches and trees to almost become one… I had the idea of being intertwined with God. I don’t want to just be a branch —- I want to be a branch with the vine wrapped around me so tight that I’m secure. Sometimes I feel that way. Like I begin the song, “In the morning, I can feel you…” When I wake up and have my quite time with God each day, I feel so connected to Him. But it is so easy to let the voices of the world drown out the voice of God as I go about my day. My prayer lately is to be so intertwined with God that I can’t leave Him behind in my “morning prayer chair” as I so often do. It’s a daily choice, but one that is oh so important to my soul work these days. I hope you can find a way to stay “in the vine” as well my friends.
THE LYRICS:
INTERTWINED
Writers: Marcia Ramirez/Kim Parent/Ken Harrell
In the morning, I can feel you
Sun shining on my skin
Through the window, as I bow down
Start my day in worship again
But the beauty of your teachings
Can fall away so easily
In the loud and hectic rush
But Lord I long to be
CH:INTERTWINED
YOUR WILL, NOT MINE --YOU ARE THE VINE
THAT I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT
YOU ARE THE HEALER, SAVIOR, COUNSELOR
YOU ARE THE GOOD AND LOVING FATHER
FOR ALL TIME
INTERTWINED
There is power, in my weakness
That’s when your strength steps in
Taking over, in your splendor
I let go and you begin
CHORUS:
BR: I in you ---and you in me
Invade my heart ---Lord never leave.
I in you ----and you in me
Lovingly entangled
in your grace and mercy
CHORUS
